Child neurology
A headache is a frequent reason for complaints of both adults and children. Along with stomach pain, it is one of the most common psychosomatic problems, but it can also be a symptom of more serious conditions. The child neurologist identifies the cause of the problems and decides a strategy for further treatment.
Breath-holding spells, collapses, autistic symptoms, delayed speech development, walking impairments, restlessness and lack of concentration, sleep disorders, tics, tremor, dizziness, backache, stereotyped and atypical behaviour, febrile seizures, numbness in limbs are examples of other disorders seen in children that may require examination by a neurologist.
The first year of a child’s life is the period of the fastest growth and development. The child will never make such remarkable progress again in such a short time. If the development of the child is impaired, rehabilitation and stimulation are the most effective throughout this period. During a neurological examination, we will assess your child’s development and decide whether rehabilitation or further examination are necessary.
Interruptions in activity, attention disorders, unexpected falls, jerky movements of the body or limbs, blinking, episodes of atypical behaviour and startle responses may be symptoms of epileptic seizures. The diagnostics and treatment of epilepsy is an important part of the child neurologist’s work.
